On Saturday, September 26th, 2020, the First Communion class finally got to receive the Sacrament of the Eucharist and celebrate their special day. Seventeen pupils from the three schools in the parish came together in Kilmovee Parish church as the Angelus bell was ringing. Because of Covid-19 restrictions, each child was accompanied by two family members only. Apart from the class teachers, there were no other people present. Nevertheless, Fr. Vincent Sherlock ensured the ceremony was prayerful, meaningful and special for all involved. Beautiful traditional music and hymns added to the sense of occasion and sacristan, Marie Regan set the scene with elegant floral displays and lighted candles throughout the church. The pupils from Kilmovee NS who received the sacrament of the Eucharist were Aoibhe Duffy, Kayleigh Duffy, Caitlín Llongo, Hadley-Jack Burns, Patrick Duffy, Seán Hunt, Oisín Lynchehaun, Tate Purcell, Cian Roddy and Killian Roddy. The school extends it’s gratitude to teacher, Mrs Deirdre Meehan, who prepared the children for Communion and also for First Confession, which was celebrated in a socially -distanced manner in the school on Thursday, September 24th.
