- The undoubted highlight of the term was the Christmas Concert. Much preparation, rehearsing, learning and laughter took place in the weeks leading up to the event. It was made all the more special as it has been such a long time since a performance of this nature has taken place, due to Covid-19 restrictions. First on stage were the pupils of Infants and First Class with their unique telling of the Nativity story in the form of “The Sleepy Shepherd”. It was a poignant and beautiful interpretation of the birth of Jesus. Next up was the school band with a mix of marches, waltzes, and hornpipes. It was very tuneful and entertaining. Following a short interval, the pupils of Second, Third and Fourth Classes took to the stage with their amusing portrayal of “Trouble in the Workshop”. Finally we were treated to “Straw and Order” courtesy of Fifth and Sixth Classes. This was a delightful dramatization with very catchy songs throughout. To conclude the night, pupils from Second to Sixth Class returned to the stage to sing the beautiful, “This Christmas Time”. It was a most enjoyable night filled with both laughter and moments of poignancy. Many thanks to the staff of the Community Centre for their tremendous help and to the generous sponsors of our raffle prizes. Deep appreciation also to the members of the Parents Association who organised the raffle and teas/coffees on the night. They also provided treats for the children at school on the following day. Míle buíochas!
- Pupils were given their Christmas Annuals as we approached the last day of term. They were also allowed to wear festive jumpers and received sweet treats ahead of the much anticipated Christmas break. Nollaig Shona Daoibh go léir!
