- The boys in Third and Fourth Classes participated in the Futsal F.A.I Blitz in Charlestown, where they won all of their matches.
- Well done to Fifth Class pupils Gráinne Hunt and Aoibhínn Duffy on their successful art entries in a county based competition organised by the Road Safety Authority for the promotion of Road Safety. The girls were invited to an awards ceremony in Mayo Education Centre and were delighted to learn that their pictures are included in a calendar produced by the RSA. Gráinne and Aoibhínn also received copies of the calendar along with gift vouchers.
- Pupils in the senior room took part in a “Safe Cycling” initiative organised by Mayo County Council and the Road Safety Authority. The course which was delivered by Mr. Ger Butler saw the children bring their bicycles to school in order to practise various cycling skills. This was a highly worthwhile venture and the boys and girls are to be commended on how they co-operated with the Course Tutor and took on board the content that was taught.
- The children of Second Class, along with the Second Class pupils of Tavrane and Kilkelly National Schools had their Enrolment Mass in Glann Church for First Holy Communion.
- Following on from a six week course in spikeball, Fifth and Sixth Classes took part in a blitz in Charlestown organised by Transition Year Students from St. Joseph’s Community College. Receiving awards on the day, were Kiera Duffy, Oisín Duffy and Michael Regan for most cooperative player, most improved player and best player respectively.
- Catholic Schools Week was celebrated at the school, starting with a Prayer Service conducted by Diocesan Advisor, Mrs Marian Maloney.
- Two teams from the school took part in the Annual Ballaghaderreen Credit Union Quiz, one in the Under Thirteen category and one in the Under Eleven category. On the Under Thirteen team were Amy Sharkey, Caoimhe Duffy, Stephen Shiel and Coilín Duffy while on the Under Eleven Team were, Oisín Duffy, Amy Hunt, Liam Boyle and Declan Duffy. The Under Eleven team finished in first place and qualified to compete in the next round of the competition.
- The Aistear theme in Miss Burke’s classroom was; The Farm. Children learned about animals on the farm, farm machinery, the job of the farmer and the role of the Vet. The workings of the milk factory were also explored as was farm safety. The importance of worms in the soil was discussed and children had the opportunity of working collaboratively to make a wormery. They then observed the movement of the worms in the following days. Children made woolly sheep and learned the song, “The animals went in two by two”.
