• GOAL Jersey Day took place on Friday, October 9th with pupils wearing their favourite jerseys and donating money to this deserving charity. GOAL provides much needed support in Third World countries, from alleviating malnutrition to educating people on hygiene measures to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. The total raised was one hundred and fifty euro. Well done to everyone!
• As Halloween approached we were all acutely aware that our annual sale-of-work would not be possible this year. Instead it was decided that on the day of mid-term break, pupils would be permitted to come to school in Halloween costumes. Teachers had sweet treats for all of the children and movies were watched in each of the classrooms. Some traditional Halloween games were also played. Children showed great imagination in their choice of costumes which included Harry Potter, Hermione, The Grim Reaper, Spiderman, Dracula, ghouls, skeletons, witches, princesses and many more.
• Emma Shiel was the only lotto winner in October.
• Frása na Míosa- Ní hé lá na báistí lá na bpáistí!
• The Aistear theme in Mrs. Shevlin’s room was The Cinema. For this theme, children had the opportunity to become script writers. Learners worked in three groups and together wrote the scripts, created movie posters, made props and created sound effects. The three movies were ‘Millie and the Lighthouse’, ‘Sailors and the Broken Boat’ and ‘Scary Yoga Noises’. Pupils also role-played going to the cinema and asking for tickets and food. Great fun was had by all!
