Last week we got a visit to the school from Garda James Leonard. He spoke to us and gave us details of what is involved in his line of work in An Garda Síochána. He is part of the forensics team, which means he works on crime scenes. First he took his high tech walkie-talkie from his bag that could pick up any call to any station in the country. Then he put our brains to the test when he asked us what we imagine happens first at a crime scene. No one answered correctly. So he told us the first thing you need to do is seal off the scene. Then you need to call in the specialist team. Later to our amazement and awe he finger-printed the whole class! Finally James showed us an app that pinpointed the location of every Garda car in the country. In conclusion we wish to show our appreciation to James for coming in and giving up his time and energy to give us a window to life in An Garda Síochána. A big bualadh bos to Mrs McDonnell for inviting James into the school and we hope she has another lovely surprise for us later this year!

- Pupils in Infants and First Class were invited to a Pumpkin Workshop in Kilmovee Community Centre on Wednesday October 26th. Halloween decorations and spooky music greeted the children upon their arrival. Each pupil was given a pumpkin, many of which had been planted by the children earlier in the year. Geraldine Duffy then showed the children how to scoop the seeds from the pumpkin. Next the staff helped each child to carve and decorate the orange fruit. The pumpkins were then left to dry and were delivered to the school on the following day to some very happy and excited children. Following the journey from planting through to harvesting, carving and decorating was a marvellous experience for the pupils. The class thoroughly enjoyed their workshop and the school expresses its gratitude to Sheila Hunt and all of the staff for facilitating it!
