- Fr. Sherlock conducted a prayer service to celebrate the start of the new school year, with a special emphasis on welcoming our new pupils. Parents of children in Junior Infants were invited to attend.
- The Aistear theme in Mrs Warde’s classroom was; The Optician. Children learned about the eye, their sense of sight and the work of the Optician. Through drama, children took on the roles of the optician, the receptionist and the patients. The pupils also discussed ways of looking after your eyes, examined a large model of the eye, stories were read connected to the theme and they made letters/shapes from play-doh and with eyes closed guessed what they were. A video entitled A Visit to the Optician was shown and First Class also wrote a fact file about the eye.
